Choral Singing Exam
Today is the day of reckoning, "The Voices in the Garden" aka the Serangoon Garden Secondary choir went for their very first ABRSM choral singing examination. The exam was held at the YMS Arts Centre, Waterloo Street, and they were the last choir of the day. And they did well. I was very happy with their performance. They made me very proud.

TIRED
These few days have been crazy, packed to the brim with performances, gigs, work. Tuesday was a super long day, had choir practice from 10-12, then a gig with Key Elements at Beatty Secondary School from 12:30 - 1:30, then down to St Nick's for rehearsal in the afternoon and off to conference hall for choral presentation. Here are some snapshots of the choral presentation.
Am glad it's over. After the show, we proceeded to Lau pa sat for dinner, and was met with a very aggressive satay-man who convinced us to sit down at table 14. And we ordered satay and sting-ray and fishball soup. The satay was still ok, but the stingray and fishball soup CMI (cannot make it), the stingray was tasteless and the sambal was just weak, the fishballs tasted synthetic and soup had way too much MSG in it. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the service was terrible, first he brought the soup and didn't give us soup spoons, so we asked for it and he came back with with only 2 where there are 5 of us! The dinner was completely unsatisfactory, not to mention that it was humid and sticky. Upset.
Anyway, Wednesday ain't any better coz of the relief teaching in the morning followed by 3 hours of choir in the afternoon. Was rather stoned when I get to SGS. Choir practice didn't go so well, people were tired and unfocused. The choir did ensemble work and clearly half of the choir didn't do their homework and the ensemble got really painful and I was losing patience. And the mood became tense and practice became very unproductive. Perhaps I am losing my touch, or perhaps I am just not cut out for the job.
A student asked me if I am unhappy. I am glad she asked, coz I was so blinded and failed to realise it myself, and that set me thinking about what is it I am unhappy about, I am still trying to fathom. I think perhaps I need is a vacation to recharge. What moved me was her sincerity and sheer passion and I thank God for people like that who makes me believe that life is worth living for. She cares for the choir alot and for people around her.

Had a photohunt today, originally wanted to catch sunrise, but missed it. Made a trip down to punggol beach anyway and took some shots. Here are a few samplers-
and found this guy resting in the shade
On my way home I met Whiskers, the friendly neighbourhood cat, then I went trigger happy.
And in the afternoon, got some more shots from changi beach, again, here are a few teasers-
to look at the full album visit - http://www.flickr.com/photos/corcovado20

Vox Humana had a concert on Sunday 23 April 2006 at the Victoria Concert Hall. It has been hardly 2 years that Vox Humana began its foray into singing a cappella music. The evening's repertoire is a showcase of the variety of music that they have been exposed to and also an opportunity to learn something valuable about art and its performance. Thanks to their choral director, Mr Gregory Chen. Here are some pictures of their rehearsal and concert:

Memoirs of Consonance
Looking back at the days where I started with Consonance, we have gone through quite a lot - workshop with Mike Brewer, christmas carolling, "Listening" and have performed at places like Harbourfront, Esplanade, Europa Country Club and Victoria Concert Hall. It's been a wonderful journey for me and seeing how Consonance has grown in so many ways, I am glad. I've just uploaded a bunch of photos on My Flickr so that you can all share in my experience. Have fun!

It's me birthday!
Hi, once again, I'm back here after a long hiatus. Actually there's just too much going on that I don't know where to start updating from, so I end up not updating. But today was a special day, and I had a pleasant surprise by my kids at Bishan Park Secondary. They bought me a richly sinful chocolate cake (yummmmms!) and a uber cool card filled with their well wishes and scribbles :) I'm really very touched by their thoughtfulness and for planning this surprise. I wasn't expecting it.
They switched off the lights for atmosphere, isn't it romantic?
glittering candlelight
Now doesn't it delectable? It really pampers my tastebuds.
Thank you Le Voci Entro for making this day a special one for me :)
